Muslim Therapist in Ontario — Counselling in Arabic & English
Finding a therapist who understands both the clinical work and the cultural context shouldn’t take months. TEO Counselling offers online therapy for Muslim individuals and couples across Ontario — Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Ottawa, London, and everywhere in between. Both Ontario clinicians offer sessions in Arabic or English, faith is welcome in the room to exactly the degree you want it there, and every appointment is virtual and confidential.

Ontario-registered care, without the Ontario commute
Your care is regulated in the province where you live. Mohamad Shabib, MACP, CCC, is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Rola Shbib, BSW (Hons), RSW, is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), based in London, Ontario.
TEO is a fully virtual practice — there is no office in Toronto, Mississauga, or Ottawa, and for many clients that’s precisely the point. No fighting the 401 after work, no downtown parking, and no waiting room where a neighbour or someone from the masjid might see you. You meet your therapist by secure video from wherever in Ontario you are.
Appointments run on weekday evenings and weekends, built around work schedules, school pickups, and everything else that makes daytime therapy impossible.
Two Ontario clinicians, in Arabic or English
Mohamad Shabib, MACP, CCC
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO and Canadian Certified Counsellor. Mohamad works in Arabic and English with trauma and PTSD — including war, displacement, and the long shadow both cast — using EMDR (EMDRIA-trained), Internal Family Systems (Levels 1–2), CBT for Trauma, and Gottman Method couples therapy (Levels 1–2), with additional addictions training (CACCF).
Rola Shbib, BSW (Hons), RSW
Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW, based in London, Ontario. Rola’s background spans crisis intervention and suicide prevention, grief and loss — she holds an honours degree in thanatology — and addictions and mental health, all practised through a trauma-informed lens in Arabic or English. If you’d feel more at ease with a female clinician, as many clients do, you can book with Rola directly.
Muslim marriage counselling
Marriage difficulties rarely stay between two people. In-law expectations, family reputation, decisions about children — couples counselling that ignores this context tends to produce advice that doesn’t survive contact with real life. Our couples work uses the Gottman Method, a structured, research-based approach to conflict, communication, and trust repair, applied by a clinician who doesn’t need the family dynamics explained first.
Couples sessions are $175 per hour and held virtually — partners can join from the same couch or from different cities, and evening slots mean neither of you has to leave work early. To be clear about the boundary: this is clinical couples therapy delivered with cultural understanding. We don’t arbitrate religious questions, and we don’t take sides. You can read more about how we work with couples on our relationship counselling page.
Nobody has to know you’re in therapy
In tight-knit communities, the barrier often isn’t therapy itself — it’s being seen going. So here is exactly how your privacy works: sessions are protected by Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and by the professional standards of CRPO and OCSWSSW. Nothing reaches your spouse, your parents, or anyone in your community without your written consent, and the narrow legal exceptions — serious risk of harm, or a court order — are laid out plainly before your first session.
Because everything is virtual, there’s no clinic door to walk through and no parked car to explain. From the outside, a session looks like any other video call.
Faith-integrated if you want it — never imposed
Some clients want faith woven through the work — meaning, religiously framed guilt, identity, belonging. Others want straightforward evidence-based therapy from someone who won’t need Ramadan explained. Both are welcome here, and you can change your mind at any point. Mohamad Shabib is a Muslim therapist, so the cultural and religious context doesn’t need a preamble. If you’ve been searching for Islamic counselling, the honest distinction is this: what we provide is spiritually integrated therapy — clinical care with room for your faith — not religious instruction, and nobody is assessed on their level of practice.

Common questions about faith-informed counselling
Is there a Muslim therapist in Ontario who offers sessions in Arabic?
Yes. Both of our Ontario clinicians — Mohamad Shabib, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO, and Rola Shbib, Registered Social Worker with OCSWSSW — offer sessions in Arabic or English, and you can move between the two languages whenever it feels natural.
Can I request a female clinician?
Yes. Rola Shbib, BSW (Hons), RSW, is a female Registered Social Worker based in London, Ontario who sees clients across the province in Arabic or English. You can book with her directly — you never need to justify the preference.
Do you offer Muslim marriage counselling in Ontario?
Yes. Couples sessions use the Gottman Method, applied with a working understanding of how marriage sits inside extended-family and community expectations. Sessions are $175 per hour, held virtually, and partners can join from the same room or from different cities.
Do you have an office in Toronto, Mississauga, or Ottawa?
No — TEO Counselling is a virtual practice, so there is no Ontario office to travel to. You meet your therapist by secure video from home, which also means nobody from your community sees you walking into a clinic.
Will anything be shared with my family or community?
No. Sessions are confidential under Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the professional standards of CRPO and OCSWSSW. Nothing is released without your written consent, apart from narrow legal exceptions explained before you begin.
Will my insurance cover sessions?
You’ll receive a receipt after every session. Many extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers — check what your specific plan covers before booking, and ask us if you’re unsure what to look for.
