Online Therapist & Counsellor for Oakville

If your day runs from the GO platform at dawn to emails after dinner, a daytime therapy appointment was never going to happen. Virtual sessions fix that: counselling for couples, anxiety, anger, and trauma with Ontario-registered clinicians — evenings and weekends, in English or Arabic.

Free 15 minute consultation · No referral needed · Seven days a week

An Oakville therapist appointment that survives your calendar

TEO Counselling is a fully virtual practice — there is no office in Oakville to reach before it closes, and no session lost to a QEW that stopped moving. Appointments happen by video through the Jane platform, with Zoom or Google Meet as a backup, wherever you have a door that shuts.

The math of an Oakville week rarely leaves room for a 2pm appointment: the commute to Toronto or Mississauga, two careers running in parallel, kids’ schedules layered on top. Sessions here run seven days a week from noon to 9pm Pacific — 3pm to midnight in Oakville — so therapy starts after your day ends instead of competing with it.

Both clinicians who see Oakville clients are registered with Ontario regulators: Mohamad Shabib, MACP, CCC, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO, and Rola Shbib, BSW (Hons), RSW, with the OCSWSSW. Both offer sessions in English and Arabic.

Counselling services for Oakville

Marriage & Couples Counselling

Couples therapy in Oakville often fails on logistics before it fails on anything else — two calendars, one clinic, no overlap. Evening and weekend video sessions solve the logistics so the actual work can start. Mohamad, trained in Gottman Method Levels 1 & 2, works on conflict cycles, trust repair after betrayal, and the quiet drift into managing a household instead of sharing a life.

Anger, Irritability & the Short Fuse

Anger management counselling for Oakville clients starts from a simple observation: the outburst is usually the last step in a long chain. Counselling traces the chain — workload, resentment, old injuries, the sense of not being heard — and adds practical de-escalation tools along the way. Video sessions mean you can do this work privately, without anyone in a waiting room.

Anxiety, Burnout & High-Functioning Stress

Plenty of Oakville clients arrive still performing well on paper — the job gets done, the family runs — while the inside feels like a browser with eighty tabs open. Mohamad draws on CBT-based approaches and Internal Family Systems training (Levels 1–2) to work on both the racing surface and what keeps it racing.

Trauma, Grief & Loss

Mohamad is EMDRIA-trained in EMDR at the advanced level and trained in CBT for Trauma (Levels 1–2). For grief, Rola brings a crisis-intervention background and an honours degree in thanatology — the study of dying, death, and bereavement. Whichever fits, the pace is yours, in English or Arabic.

Common questions about counselling in Oakville

How do I find a therapist in Oakville?

You can book directly with TEO Counselling — no referral needed. Start with a free 15 minute video consultation, tell us what you’re dealing with, and we’ll match you with Mohamad, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO, or Rola, a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW. Most new clients have their first full session within days.

How much does couples therapy in Oakville cost?

Couples therapy for Oakville couples is $175 per 60-minute video session with Mohamad Shabib, who has completed Gottman Method Levels 1 and 2 training. Evening and weekend times are available, and each partner can join the call from a different place — home, a parked car after work, or another city entirely.

Do you offer anger management counselling in Oakville?

Yes. Anger work here goes beyond technique lists — counselling looks at the pressure, resentment, and older injuries that drive the outbursts, alongside practical de-escalation tools you can use this week. Sessions are by video, evenings and weekends included.

How much does individual therapy cost in Oakville?

Individual sessions are $150 per 60-minute session, with a sliding scale available if cost is a barrier. Your initial 15 minute consultation is free, and you receive a receipt after every session — many extended health plans cover services from a Registered Psychotherapist, a Canadian Certified Counsellor, or a Registered Social Worker.

When are appointments available for Oakville?

Seven days a week, from 12pm to 9pm Pacific time — which is 3pm to midnight in Oakville. That includes starts late enough to book after the GO train gets you home.

Can I have my sessions in Arabic?

Yes. Both Mohamad and Rola offer sessions in Arabic as well as English.

Sessions until midnight, on Oakville time

Appointments run from noon to 9pm Pacific, seven days a week — in Oakville, that is 3pm to midnight. The Lakeshore West train that gets you home at 7 leaves plenty of evening to work with; a 9pm start after dinner is an ordinary booking here.

An individual session is 60 minutes at $150; a couples session is $175. Before either comes a free 15 minute video consultation — no referral, no charge, no obligation to continue.

Cancellations need 24 hours’ notice. Inside that window, and for a session nobody attends, the full fee is charged. With a schedule as tight as most Oakville calendars, it is worth saying plainly up front.

Two careers, one relationship

A pattern shows up often in couples work with commuter households: by the time both of you are home, fed, and done with the day’s logistics, there is nothing left for the relationship except the argument you didn’t have time to finish last week. Nobody planned it; the calendar did it.

Gottman Method work gives that situation structure rather than blame. Sessions look at how conflict actually starts between you — not the topic, the pattern — what repair looks like when trust has taken a hit, and how two tired people find their way back to being on the same team. Mohamad has completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman training and brings it to couples across Ontario by video.

The video format carries a practical advantage for exactly this situation: when one of you is travelling for work or stuck late downtown, the session still happens — two screens, one conversation.

Who does what, and what the registrations mean

Mohamad Shabib, MACP, CCC, is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO — Ontario’s psychotherapy regulator — and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA. He works with clients in all six provinces the practice serves: British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador. His training spans advanced EMDR through EMDRIA, Internal Family Systems Levels 1 and 2, Gottman Method Levels 1 and 2, CBT for Trauma Levels 1 and 2, and DBT, alongside a graduate diploma in addiction treatment and prevention.

Rola Shbib, BSW (Hons), RSW, is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, based in London, Ontario. She brings crisis intervention and suicide-prevention training (ASIST), addictions and mental health experience, and an honours degree in thanatology.

Alison Shaji, MA, RCC, the practice’s third clinician, works with clients in British Columbia only, so she is not offered to Oakville clients.

These are levels of training completed, not certifications, and we describe them as nothing more. If a specific approach matters to you, ask at the consultation who holds the training for it.

Paying for counselling, and what OHIP leaves out

OHIP does not pay for private psychotherapy or counselling — every session here is paid privately, and you receive an insurance-ready receipt after each one showing the clinician’s name and registration.

Some plans TEO can bill directly — Pacific Blue Cross, CVAP, and plans on the TELUS eClaims network among them — so you pay only the part the plan does not cover. Everything else works by reimbursement: you pay per session and submit the receipt.

Before relying on a benefits booklet, read its wording. If it lists Registered Psychotherapist, ask whether the Qualifying category is included; if it lists Registered Social Worker, ask which registrations it counts. Claims are decided by the plan’s wording, not by anything written here.

A few reduced-fee spots are held for people for whom the fee is the barrier — ask about one at the free consultation.

What this practice can and cannot do

Everything happens over video, and some support needs a person physically present. Nobody here can sit with you at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial or drive you to an appointment. If that is the help this moment calls for, say so at the consultation and you will be pointed toward Halton services that provide it.

Counsellors and psychotherapists do not diagnose, screen, or assess conditions. Medication decisions belong to a physician or nurse practitioner, and counselling here runs alongside that care rather than replacing it.

What you say stays between you and your clinician, with four exceptions explained before the first session: a serious risk that you will harm yourself, a serious risk that you will harm another person, a suspicion that a child is being abused or neglected, and a subpoena or court order for the records.

Video also asks two practical things of you — a private space and a connection that holds for an hour. If home cannot offer either, raise it at the consultation; a parked car, an empty office after hours, or a booked meeting room have all worked for other clients.
